winter homeWinter presents its own unique set of challenges but in Mammoth Lakes it is a great time to list your property as it will receive maximum exposure.  These are steps you can take to brighten your home even on the stormiest days.

1.  Clear the path.  As simple as it sounds, a clear path is inviting.  Continually shovel a path.  Sprinkle a layer of sand over the sidewalk to ensure potential buyers stable footing.  If the house looks easy to access buyers will start off with a positive first impression.

2.  Let in the light.  Pull the blinds, open the shutters and push back the drapes in every window.  Turn on every light in the house.  Brighten dark rooms with few windows by placing spotlight on the floor behind furniture.

3.  Turn on the heat.  Turn up the thermostat — it’s better to heat the house a degree or two warmer than usual as this prevents the heat from kicking on when buyers are present since some HVAC systems are loud.  If possible, light the fireplace.

4.  Make it visually appealing.  Start by making it sparkle:  wash windows, clean out cob-webs, if necessary re-caulk tubs, shower and sinks, polish faucets and mirrors, vacuum daily, wash floors, dust furniture, ceiling fan blades and light fixtures, bleach dingy grout and empty the trash.
